One Year After HCA Purchased Mission Health System, Where are We?

A year ago when HCA bought the Mission Health System, including Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, the final agreement specified that an Independent Monitor be named to make sure HCA complied with the agreement. Gibbins Advisors is the monitor and the company has been conducting informational meetings with the public in the seven areas where the system’s hospitals are located.

Things got really interesting in the high turnout event in Asheville on Tuesday, Feb. 11th, in which a large group of the area’s elected officials, including Senator Terry Van Duyn, Representatives Ager, Fisher, and Turner, County Commissioner Brownie Newman, and Mayor Esther Manheimer presented an open latter to Mr. Winters and Mr. Urban of Gibbins Advisors.
