We woke up on Feb, 26, 2020 to multiple media outlet’s coverage of the letter that Josh Stein wrote to HCA Division President Greg Lowe. The letter was prompted by issues the public raised with the Independent Monitor at a series of public meetings since late January.
The AG’s letter covers four categories of issues:
A surge in complaints about quality of care
The lack of a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at Angel Hospital
How Mission Health implements its charity care and uninsured patient policies
How HCA discloses to patients the charges that they must pay
Then the letter gives explicit deadlines for HCA to respond to Office of the NC Department of Justice with further information, and those deadlines are soon.
